Doge's Palace Discounts and Promotions – Who Saves?
The Doge's Palace and the other museums run by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia (MUVE) offer reduced and free admission to several categories of visitors. Knowing whether you qualify can save you money and simplify your booking. This page explains the main Doge's Palace discounts and promos: reduced ticket categories, free admission, and what ID or documents you need to show. Always confirm the current list on the official MUVE website, as conditions can change.
Reduced Ticket Categories for the Doge's Palace
For the St. Mark's Square Museums ticket (which includes the Doge's Palace), the reduced price applies to: children aged 6 to 14; students aged 15 to 25; visitors over 65; holders of the Venice Rolling Card; and holders of the ISIC (International Student Identity Card). A valid ID or card must be shown at the entrance. The same or similar reduced categories apply to the Secret Itineraries and Hidden Treasures tours, and to the Museum Pass. For the exact reduced price (e.g. 15 € for the St. Mark's Square ticket, 20 € for the special tours), see our prices page.
Seniors + Junior Offer (Family Discount)
MUVE’s Seniors + Junior offer gives a reduced ticket to all paying members of a group made up of two adults and at least one youth (up to 16 years old). So if you are two adults visiting with a child or teenager, you can all benefit from the reduced rate, not only the child. This is one of the main Doge's Palace discounts for families. Check the current terms when booking. More on family tickets.
Free Admission Categories
Free admission to the Doge's Palace and the other St. Mark's Square museums is granted to: Venetian citizens and residents; ICOM members; children aged 0 to 5; disabled visitors with helper (one companion); tourist guides authorised in Italy when accompanying a group; accompanying teachers of school groups (e.g. up to 2 per group); MUVE ordinary partners; MUVE Friend Card holders; holders of Art Pass Venice, Venetian Heritage Foundation membership, Save Venice Inc. Fellow membership; and members of “Amici dei Musei e Monumenti Veneziani”. Proof of eligibility (ID, membership card, etc.) is required. For the complete and updated list, see the official visitor information on visitmuve.it.
Rolling Venice Card and Young Visitors
The Rolling Venice Card is a youth card for 6–29 year olds that offers discounts on transport and various attractions, including reduced entry to MUVE museums such as the Doge's Palace. If you are in this age group and plan to use public transport and visit museums, the card can be a good promo. You can buy it at tourist offices and other points of sale in Venice. Bring the card when you visit to claim the Doge's Palace discount.
ISIC and Student Discounts
Students aged 15 to 25 can get the reduced ticket with a valid ISIC (International Student Identity Card) or equivalent student ID. The discount applies to the St. Mark's Square Museums ticket, the Secret Itineraries and Hidden Treasures tours, and the Museum Pass. Always bring your student card and, if required, an ID. For more, see our student tickets page.
Online and Advance-Purchase Promos
Besides category-based discounts, buying your Doge's Palace tickets online usually gives a lower general admission price than at the box office. Purchasing at least 30 days before your visit can unlock a further discount on the St. Mark's Square Museums ticket. So even if you do not qualify for a reduced or free ticket, you can still save by planning ahead and booking online. Third-party sellers may run their own promos or bundle tickets with skip-the-line—check what is included before buying.
Corporate and Partner Agreements
The Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia has partnerships and corporate agreements that can offer reduced or special access to the Doge's Palace and other museums. If you are travelling through a partner organisation, your employer, or a cultural institution, check whether a MUVE agreement applies. Details are usually on the official visitmuve.it site under “partnerships” or “corporate agreements”.
How to Claim Your Discount
When booking online, select the correct ticket type (e.g. reduced, child, student) if the option is available. At the entrance, have your confirmation and a valid ID or card (e.g. ISIC, Rolling Venice, proof of age or residence) ready. Staff may check your eligibility. If you are unsure whether you qualify, contact the official call centre (848082000 from Italy, +39 041 42730892 from abroad) or check the official MUVE visitor information before your visit.
